A Good Week ~ Weekly Wrap-Up, Homeschool Mother's Journal, and Collage Friday

In my life this week~
I have been reminded daily that the Lord's mercies are new every morning, with the beautiful sunrise over the field behind our home. The cool misty mornings are a sign that Fall (our favorite season) is just right around the corner.

In our homeschool this week~
This week we wrapped up our third full week of our new homeschooling year. It is so lovely to be back into our regular routines. We had a great week of studies, even though I battled with congestion and asthma flare-ups for most of the week.

Our memory verse for the week was Philippians 4:6-7:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind through Christ Jesus."

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share~
We are using Volume 1: Seeds of Courage by Seeds Family Worship for our Scripture memory. Bible Verse Printables offers a wide variety of free downloads for each song in Volume 1: Seeds of Courage and for many of the other CDs by Seeds Family Worship. Bible Verse Printables and Seeds Family Worship are a tremendous resource!

I am inspired by~
One of our goals this year is to make Scripture memory and study a priority. I am so thankful for creative and generous families that create resources to aid in our studies.

Places we are going and people we are seeing~
This Tuesday our classes resumed for the Fall semester at Classical Conversations Anderson.

Briyah was so excited to see her friends again. She is taking her second year of Foundations and Essentials.

My favorite thing this week~
I was so pleased to see Briyah smiling all day for our CC community day. I also loved how much fun Malachi had in his Foundations class.

Malachi is in his first year in the Foundations program. He had a fun time making new friends and his favorite part was Fine Arts. He was so proud of his bird drawing.

What's working/not working for us~
We have continued with our Egyptian studies for history.

Briyah and Malachi are working on an Ancient Egypt history pocket project. They are both fascinated with mummification, and I now know more than I ever cared to know about this process. This week as Briyah read to Malachi from a history book, I overheard her instruct him to "not try this at home." They are funny kids. We are going to try and mummify a chicken this week. I am sure this will be a disgusting but memorable experience. I will have to let you know next week how that works out for us.

Questions/thoughts I have~
I am wondering when I am going to be able to meet my goal of losing weight. I still have so far to go.

Things I am working on~
I am still working on losing weight and improving my health. I started out very strong in April/May and went to the gym daily (many times twice daily). In June, we prepared to move, but I was able to continue working out. In July, we spent the entire month moving and getting settled. It was difficult to get in the gym on a regular basis. In August, we continued to settle in our new home and prepared for our new school year. My visits to the gym were sporadic again. This is something that I want to change in September. I have not gained any weight but I am at a complete standstill with my weight loss. I have only lost 20 or so pounds and I have a ton of weight left to lose. My hubby has lost almost 55 pounds and he is almost at his goal weight. His health has improved in several areas. I am ready to start the weight loss process again, and I know that I am going to need to work hard at the gym. I felt great when I was going to the gym daily. It is a huge time commitment to work out daily. I felt so energized when I made the time to work out, and so I am going to try adding this in my schedule again next week. This is such a major priority for me to lose weight.

I'm reading~
I am reading through The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading and the Writing Road to Reading. Malachi is working on learning basic reading skills. These books are giving me plenty to think about to encourage literacy.

I'm cooking~
I baked Cranberry Orange Scones this week and they were a hit. I will post a recipe soon.

I'm grateful for~
My beloved husband who works so hard to take care of our family. I am very grateful for weekends with him.

I'm praying for~
Our daughter Shaiya who is having a painful health issue. She is seeing a chiropractor and doctor on a regular basis, and we hope she will be able to heal soon.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share~

The kids were so excited to wrap-up this week with a treat at Starbucks from Uncle Brandon.

Thank you for visiting our weekly wrap-up. How was your week?

I pray the Lord will bless you with strength, inspiration, joy, peace, and plenty moments of sharing love with your family.

I understand about the weight loss journey - I lost 10 lbs during the summer and now I am stalled out. I need to find the motivation to get moving again!

Looks like a great third week -- thanks for linking with Collage Friday!
