{The Week} Busy Days ~ Blessed Days

In my life this past week…

It was a packed week of activities for us. We met for Week 20 of Classical Conversations Anderson. We had a few meetings with Diana Waring (and friends), as she gets ready for the busy convention season. Our family went to the Behold the Lamb passion play in Noblesville. We wrapped up the week with a family celebration for Shaiya's 20th birthday. What a blessed but busy week!

In our homeschool last week…

This school year we are studying Ancient History with Classical Conversations. I use quite a bit of supplementary materials with the kids, to support our memory work.

I work part-time for A Journey Through Learning. They have a whole host of lapbooking resources to support Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 of Classical Conversations. Lapbooks are a wonderful activity to sprinkle in our weekly studies!

Briyah devours books and I can barely keep up with her studies. I am at the point in our homeschooling journey where she is becoming my "teacher" of history and literature. So I am very pleased to begin using Diana Waring's Ancient Civilizations and The Bible curriculum. We are starting right in Unit Three which covers Egypt and the Exodus, to coincide with our Passover and Holy Week celebrations.

I will post a full review soon. This is an amazing curriculum!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

I have found it very helpful to attend social media parties and enter giveaways. Many companies offer social media parties and giveaways on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram in order to bless their followers, share helpful information about new and upcoming products, and to gauge how to better meet the needs of their customers. When you attend a social media party, you can have the opportunity to ask questions about a product you are considering. You can also enter giveaways to win products.

Do you enjoy attending social media parties? If you have yet to attend one, I encourage you to try it out and see what you think.

I was so completely surprised to be a winner in the recent Master Books Instagram (#mbinstagrammies) contest! I won 25 titles of my choice to donate to our church library. We are selecting titles to divide up to donate to two church libraries. Part of the books are going to our home church Madison Park Church of God library. The other half are being donated to First Presbyterian Church, where we meet weekly for Classical Conversations.

It is such a blessing to win this contest! THANK YOU Master Books! I am so thankful to be able to share this blessing with two churches that we love dearly.

Master Books has wonderful social media parties each month with fabulous giveaways. You can follow Master Books on Facebook to stay updated on the upcoming events.

I’m grateful for…

Happy 20th Birthday (March 27th) to our beautiful daughter Shaiya!

We are so proud you and pray the Lord will bless you for His glory! We love you so much!

Making steps forward...

My new spring classes at Liberty University are underway. This spring, I am taking two classes that meet for eight weeks, to finish up my minor in Christian Counseling. My spring courses are Christian Counseling for Marriage and Family and Christian Counseling for Women.

I only have a few classes left before graduation. God willing, I am planning on taking two summer courses (16 weeks) in Biology and Math. Then I will finish up in the fall with my capstone class (student teaching practicum) for my BS Education. It takes quite bit of hard work and juggling to go back to college as an adult. I am getting close to the finish line, and I will be thankful when I finally reach this goal.

Need to make progress...

The one area that I am having ZERO progress in right now is my weight loss. I have a gym membership through May. I used to go to the gym twice daily when we only lived a mile away. The gym is now six miles from our home and it is difficult to fit it in my schedule. Once it warms up we will be able to walk, hike, garden and bike and I will have more activity outdoors. I am thankful I did not gain weight this winter, but I regret the fact that I have not lost any either. I am in such a stagnant place with my weight loss. Guess what? It is my own fault. I say it all of the time, and I am tired of sounding like a broken record, but I am SO tired of being overweight. It is impacting my health in a negative way. Now, I just need to do something about it!

How are you doing friends? I hope you are well and blessed!

Has spring arrived in your area yet? It still looks like winter in Central Indiana.

May you have a blessed season celebrating the Resurrection and Life!
