Our family was recently introduced to EEME through the Mosaic Reviews team as we were selected to try out a project in their monthly subscription plan. We received the Genius Light Project for our first review with the company.

Our eleven year old daughter was in complete geek heaven when she opened the Genius Light Project from EEME. She squealed, giggled, and gasped as she pulled out each little part (breadboard, resistors, circuits, batteries, LED light, etc.) to assemble the project. I really should have recorded a video of that moment!

Before she even began the project, she exclaimed that we had to order everything EEME made so that she could work on projects all year. I think what sealed the deal for her was the extra "Geek Out" sticker that was included in the project. Our daughter informed us that being a geek is a badge of honor and that it is the new cool.

Each EEME project in the monthly subscription service contains detailed step-by-step videos. The projects are geared for elementary and above students. A younger elementary student would require some parental assistance in dealing with the small wires and parts. Our eleven year old completed the project without any parental assistance. To be completely honest, I sat across from her while she worked through the project and munched on pretzels. I watched with fascination while she worked through the project videos, but she wanted to do the project all by herself.

I loved how the Genius Light Project encouraged scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Our daughter was truly delighted to complete each task as she worked towards the goal of the project. I had my camera ready as she reached the point where she was able to turn on the LED light. She gasped and then squealed with sheer happiness.

She said, "I am so proud that I could make this project! Are you proud of me?"

It was a happy learning moment! We are now huge fans of EEME for providing this wonderful educational experience!

The Genius Light Project was enough of a brain challenge yet the project was not simplistic. Our daughter missed a step and had to backtrack through the video to find her error to correct. Yet, the project was not so difficult that it brought confusion or discouragement. The step-by-step videos provided complete and clear instructions.

What we enjoyed about the EEME Genius Light Project:

  • Everything is included in the project kit
  • Detailed step-by-step project videos (approx. 45 minutes) are provided online
  • Short, interactive quizzes test comprehension
  • The projects are high-interest and support STEM studies
  • The project was challenging yet possible to complete by following directions
  • This project generated a lot of happy geek moments and smiles all around!
